Our competitive intelligence application framework was developed as a derivative to our modular application architecture, We assembled a number of functional modules and created a Competitive Intelligence framework from them: The basic functionality of the system employs automated categorisation and summarisation elements to feed news stories and other documents into categorised temporary document stores. From there reviewers and readers select documents and feed them into permanent storage both by manual selection and by reader feedback and Delphi tools. Documents in this area are periodically reviewed against various intelligence assertions and topics this information being used to arrive at a consensus view of the current, past or future situation. This consensus view is captured and presented in a variety of visual formats for use by decision makers within the organisation.
Within this process users interact in a variety of ways, whether by passively reading documents and articles, or by interactively feeding back their views on the data presented. Automated alerting systems using email and SMS outputs are provided as are data capture tools from email, web and other resources.
The overall framework is architected as a series of work spaces organised both by product and competitor company so that intelligence can be developed both about the relative positioning of similar products in the market place, and also the relative positioning, strengths, weaknesses and relationships and alliances of the various players in the market.
The system employs security both as a series of levels which confer reader, author, or management rights, and as a set of different topic areas. Thus is it possible for an individual or group to be a reader in most of the system whilst having greater rights in specific areas.
The system is available as a start point for any competitive intelligence application and can be tailored to meet the differing requirements of groups ranging from small, project oriented, research groups to corporate CI departments.
It is hoped that this fairly light description has painted enough of a picture to whet the readers appetite to find out more about our competitive intelligence application framework. For more detailed documents, white papers and more examples of this technology please contact us.
